Some people light up at a big night out. Others light up at the thought of a quiet evening, a warm mug, a candle going and nowhere to be. If you love someone like that (or you are someone like that, like me), this list is for you.
There’s just something about the slow, simple moments at home that I treasure more every year. These are the gifts that make those moments a little sweeter, most of them under $50, and all of them things I’d be happy to unwrap myself.
For slow mornings
- A stoneware mug that feels good in your hands. I love a speckled stoneware mug with a little weight to it. It just makes coffee feel like a ritual.
- A pour-over set. A simple ceramic pour-over dripper slows the morning down in the best way.
- Something sweet to stir in. A jar of raw honey from our own hives with a little wooden dipper is my favorite tea and toast gift. (Our honey ships within California.)
For cozy evenings in

- A chunky knit throw. A soft cream knit throw fits right into a cottage-style living room and gets used every single night.
- A candle with a soft, clean scent. I hand-pour small-batch soy candles for our family business, Beeholden. White Tea is my pick for a homebody who doesn’t love heavy scents.
- A candle warmer lamp. A candle warmer lamp melts a candle from the top with no flame, so you get the scent without worrying.
- Cozy socks or slippers. A pair of sherpa-lined slipper socks is the gift nobody buys for themselves.
- A puzzle for the coffee table. A pretty botanical jigsaw puzzle is the perfect slow, rainy-weekend project.
- A book light. A rechargeable book light for reading in bed without waking anyone.
For a home that smells like the holidays
Simmer pots are one of my favorite little joys. You toss dried citrus, spices and botanicals into a pot of water and let the whole house fill with something warm and lovely. Our Rose Garden and Kitchen Grove blends are easy to tuck into a stocking. Pair one with a small enamel saucepan for a sweet bundle.

For the kitchen homebody
- Linen kitchen towels. Soft linen towels get prettier every time you wash them.
- A linen apron. A linen apron with deep pockets softens with every wash, just like the towels.
- A wooden cutting board and something to care for it. An acacia cutting board or a set of olive wood spoons, plus a tin of our beeswax board butter, keeps them beautiful for years.
- Glass jars for the pantry. A set of glass jars with wooden lids makes everyday staples look like they belong on display. (Here’s what I keep in my pantry.)
- A Dutch oven, if you want to splurge. An enameled Dutch oven makes soup season (and this butternut squash soup) so much easier.
For the one who loves a tidy home
- Woven baskets. A few woven storage baskets, because everyone has a corner that needs one.
- Linen spray. A linen and room spray for fresh sheets and towels pairs perfectly with a freshly organized linen closet.
- A label maker. Trust me, the organizer on your list will be thrilled with a label maker.
- A catchall tray. A pretty catchall tray for keys and sunglasses by the door. (Here’s how I set up our entryway drop zone.)
For the one who loves growing things
A potted amaryllis bulb is one of my favorite winter gifts. It grows right on the windowsill and blooms when everything outside is gray. I shared exactly how to do it in my post on growing amaryllis and paperwhites. A ready-to-grow amaryllis kit makes it easy.
- A windowsill herb kit. An indoor herb kit for the cook who wants fresh basil all winter. (These are the easiest herbs to start with.)
- A hummingbird feeder. A glass hummingbird feeder brings the garden to the window. I shared what to look for here.
- Good gloves. A pair of breathable gardening gloves and a kneeling pad. Not glamorous, but used every single week.
Handmade finds from small shops
Some of my favorite gifts come from makers on Etsy. A few ideas to search for:
- A personalized wooden recipe box, maybe with a few family recipes tucked inside.
- A hand-thrown pottery mug. No two are alike.
- An embroidered tea towel for the kitchen.
- A personalized family ornament to mark this year.
Want it all in one?
If you’d rather give a gift that’s already put together, our Cozy Candle Gift Box is basically this whole post in a box: a soy candle, a simmer pot blend and candle care tools. It’s the one I’d give to my favorite homebody.
For the honey lover, the Hive & Hearth Gift Box has raw honey from our own hives, beeswax balms, board butter and a cozy simmer pot blend. Both arrive in a kraft box with nothing left to wrap, and there are more ideas in the Beeholden holiday gift guide.
Stocking stuffers under $15

- A peppermint beeswax lip balm from our hives.
- A candle wick trimmer for the candle lover.
- Wool dryer balls with a few drops of essential oil.
- A pretty kitchen timer or a set of cotton dish cloths.
The best gifts for a homebody aren’t about more stuff. They’re about the feeling of being home. A warm mug, a soft blanket, a house that smells good. That’s a pretty lovely life, if you ask me.

Wrapping it up: my simple kraft paper and twine wrapping makes any of these look boutique-pretty. And for more cozy-at-home ideas, read how to make your home smell cozy, naturally over on the Beeholden blog.
